Fynbos Lady Nerds

I just love how these three nerdy ladies are enjoying the Cape Fynbos, in 1968. My guess is that this is somewhere near Rhodes Memorial, Cape Town.

Flower Market

This indoor flower market is was probably in London, UK and I wouldn’t be surprised if it still exists. I love the somber suits and bent heads as they make their trades. Flowers come into our homes to create cheer and yet here its all serious business. The final consumer who is largely female is of course nowhere in sight.

Athens Florists

A row of florist shops in Athens, 1964. I like the way the men perch on the pavement and read their papers, it must have been quite companionable. I wonder what that big wreath with the palm leaves was for.

Brightening and recoloring was needed to make this look like a happy early morning scene
