Not an old slide this time, but a postcard from Air France. I love it and have pinned the original above my desk. Air France issued many such postcards, all gorgeous designs. However, out of the hundreds on Pintrest, EBay and Google I can’t find this one, so perhaps its quite rare! On the reverse is a reference number 60 279/11/78.

Car Park No. 1 at London Airport (now called Heathrow) in May 1959. British bubble cars are pretty cool. I also have a thing for bland urban spaces, between here and nowhere, cement and serene. What a lovely example this one is, and I literally pulled it out of a plastic shopping bag at random.

Happy greetings or goodbyes. Airports used to much more open, and as people tended to take pics on arrivals and departures there are lots of examples. Groups posed on the tarmac at airports, or people on the open-air stairs into airplanes are common. Its a pity this has changed as the wonderful backdrop of airport buildings, tarmac and planes, with its industrial look and travel romance is no longer seen.
This was one of the dirtiest slides I’ve ever had to deal with. Dust was stuck to the surface and couldn’t be wiped off. I managed to clean up most of it digitally. Then it needed lightening and selective color improvements.
